Fully Funded PhD Opportunity in Technology, Infrastructure, and the Pacific
Fully funded PhD opportunity for the August 2027 intake in the Department of Architecture, College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore.
About
I’m looking for a prospective PhD student to join the Infrastructure Lab at the National University of Singapore. I’m particularly interested in students working on questions about how technology industries are reshaping cities and regions through infrastructure, land, energy, and other resource systems.
The geographic focus is broadly trans-Pacific, with an interest in connections across East and Southeast Asia and the United States, while also welcoming projects that examine these transformations in depth within particular national, regional, or local contexts.
Research
Possible directions might include data centers and semiconductor production, industrial and infrastructure policy, energy systems, or the changing geographies of technology-led development. These are not fixed topics. The aim is to support a student in developing their own questions within this broader agenda.
Applicants with backgrounds in planning, geography, public policy, urban studies, political economy, or related fields would be a good fit.
Expression of interest
If this aligns with your interests, please send a CV, a writing sample or portfolio, and a short note describing the questions you would like to pursue to jkollar@nus.edu.sg. These materials are for an initial expression of interest. Formal applications are submitted separately through NUS.
The main application deadline for the August 2027 intake is 15 January 2027.
